Project Description
TRITON-X is a multi-mission microsatellite platform co-funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) under its ARTES 21 programme. The current project is focusing in manufacturing and delivery of the MGSE’s for the TRITON-X mission.
The prime contractor of the project is APCO Technologies SA.
Heron Engineering is responsible for the design, manufacturing and delivery of the following MGSE’s:
The TRI-X SM Equipment dummies will be used for the vibration test campaign of the TRI-X SM satellite. They are dummies like Battery, IAU, PCU, Reaction Wheels, Gyroscope, Sun Sensor, Magnetorquer, S-Band Antenna etc. and are representative in terms of mass, CoG, dynamic behavior, footprint and interface of real equipment. Twenty one different dummies were designed and manufactured.
The Lifting Device will be used during the manufacturing, integration and test campaign of the TRI-X SM satellite. The lifting device is consisted by a lifting frame, four lifting brackets and the necessary slings, shackles, turnbuckles etc. The WLL of the Lifting Device is at 260 kg and is tested at twice the WLL.
The Transport Container will be used for transporting of the TRI-X SM satellite for the test campaign. It is designed to sustain the transportation Quasi Static and shock loads. As damping system Wire Rope Isolators (WRI) are selected that designed and manufactured by SOCITEC. A drop test is performed to verify the selected WRI.
All the MGSE’s are manufactured by Alexmolds. Furthermore, the lifting test of the frame and container’s cover lid at twice their WLL, as well as the drop test of the Transport Container, are all took place in Alexmolds facilities.
